Damp & Anti-Damp Paint on the Costa Blanca
Damp stains and mould aren't fixed by painting over them: they come back. I make the area good, treat the cause and paint with anti-damp products so the problem doesn't return.

What the service includes
Diagnosing the cause
I identify the source (condensation, leak or rising damp) before acting.
Make good & treat mould
I remove what's affected, clean the mould and apply treatment before painting.
Anti-damp paint
Breathable products that stop the stain and mould coming back.
Painting over damp without treating it is throwing money away: within a few weeks the stain comes back and the paint blisters. That's why I first work out where it's coming from (condensation, a leak or damp rising from the ground), make the affected area good, remove the loose paint and treat the mould. Only then do I apply the paint.
I use anti-damp, breathable paints that let the wall breathe but hold back stains and mould. In coastal areas like Santa Pola or Arenales, where the air is very damp, it's a very common job. I explain what can be solved with paint and when it's also worth tackling the source.
FAQ
- Why does the damp keep coming back even though I paint over it?
- Because paint doesn't solve the cause. If the source isn't treated (a leak, condensation or damp rising from the ground) and the area isn't made good, the stain and mould come back. That's why I treat first and paint after.
- Does anti-damp paint get rid of damp?
- It helps hold back stains and mould and lets the wall breathe, but if there's a leak or strong structural damp, you also have to tackle the source. I'll tell you honestly what can be solved in your case.
- Do you treat mould in kitchens and bathrooms?
- Yes. Mould in damp areas is made good, treated and painted with an anti-mould product. I do it in bathrooms and kitchens as well as bedrooms and outside walls.
