If your fence is metal - a gate, a railing or a wrought-iron handrail - the enemy is rust. I brush and sand the rusty areas, apply a rust treatment and a primer, and finish with an exterior enamel that protects the metal from sun and rain for years. I match the colour you already have or help you choose a new one.
If it's a boundary wall (block, brick or concrete), I make the surface good, repair cracks and flaking and treat the damp before painting. I use waterproof, breathable exterior paint, the same as on facades, so the wall holds up well and doesn't get marked straight away. When I'm done I leave everything clean and tidy.
