Smoothing walls is a job of patience and craft. Depending on the condition, I scrape off the texture or apply a skim coat over the whole surface, sand it until it's perfect and prime it before painting. The result is a smooth wall with no trace of the old texture.
It's a job that creates dust, so I protect the floor, furniture and doors thoroughly, seal off the rooms and clean up when I'm done. If you like, I'll go ahead and leave the walls painted in the colour you choose.

- In many cases yes: if the texture is firm, I apply a skim coat over it and sand. When it's very loose, it's better to scrape it off. I assess it when I come and see it.
