My painting guarantee: what it covers (and what it doesn't)

I give a written 2-year guarantee on the work. Let me set out openly what's in and what's out, because a clear guarantee is fairer for both you and me.

Acabado de pintura impecable y revisado, con garantía de 2 años

A guarantee is only worth anything if both sides know what it covers. I'm Pepe, a painter in Elche, and I'd rather make it clear from the off: I give you a written 2-year guarantee on my painting work, and here I explain exactly what's in and what's out, no small print.

What the guarantee covers

The guarantee covers what's down to me: that the work is done properly and the finish holds up as it should. If within the guarantee period the paint fails because of an application or preparation defect, I come back and put it right at no cost. For example:

  • The paint flaking, blistering or peeling because of poor preparation or application.
  • The finish coming out uneven, with roller marks or patchy areas.
  • The enamel on doors or woodwork not gripping as it should.

What it does NOT cover (and why)

A painting guarantee can't cover things that aren't down to the work itself. These are the situations that fall outside it, so there are no misunderstandings:

  • Normal wear and tear: scuffs, marks, everyday stains or aggressive cleaning.
  • Knocks, scratches or damage from furniture, children, pets or other people.
  • New damp, leaks or condensation, or damp you chose not to treat before painting.
  • Cracks from building movement or settlement (they're not down to the paint).
  • Natural fading from the sun over time, especially outdoors.
  • Mould from lack of ventilation (e.g. an un-aired bathroom) or lack of upkeep.
  • Work or products applied by others afterwards, or paint you supplied yourself.

Why a clear guarantee works in your favour

A guarantee that promises to 'cover everything' sounds great but isn't real, and it ends up causing arguments. I'd rather tell you the truth: I stand by my work, and I flag anything that's not down to me before I start. So when there's damp or a crack, I tell you and we decide how to handle it; that way there are no surprises for you or for me.

If damp or an underlying problem could affect the result, I explain it beforehand and, if you decide to paint anyway without treating it, I put it in writing. It's the honest way to work (you can see how I deal with damp so the finish lasts).

How to make a claim

Dead simple: if within the period you notice something you reckon is a defect in the work, give me a call or send me a photo on WhatsApp. I come and take a look, and if it falls under the guarantee I put it right at no cost and no fuss. You deal directly with me, like everything else.

Want the exact price for your project?

I will come and see it with no obligation and give you a fixed quote, free and the same day. You deal directly with me, no middlemen.

FAQ

How long does the guarantee last?
I give you a written 2-year guarantee on the painting work (the application and the finish). If anything fails because of a defect in my work within that period, I put it right at no cost.
A damp patch has appeared after painting, is it covered?
If it's new damp (a leak, condensation) or one we decided not to treat before painting, it's not covered: the guarantee covers the paint, not the source of the damp. Even so, I'll come and take a look and tell you how to sort it.
Does it cover everyday scuffs and knocks?
No, that's normal wear and tear and isn't a defect in the work. What I do cover is the paint not peeling or blistering because of poor application or preparation.

Want it painted well, with no surprises?

Tell me what you need (or send me a photo) and I'll put together a free, no-obligation quote. I reply in under an hour on WhatsApp.
